        • Biography

          https://www.waterstonegallery.com/mini

Born in India, I was raised in Germany, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia and returned to India as a young adult. I received a degree in German and trained as a Special Education teacher in Bangalore and Pune India (1999 - 2003).

I come from a matrilineal line of creatives, in particular textile artists: going back four generation.

I consider myself primarily a painter and mixed-media artist, the textile arts continue to be a foundational inspiration for my work.

I’ve worked in the Indian textile industry for 8 years starting in 2006, where I designed and produced my own brand of clothes and ran a successful boutique which focused on promoting Indian textiles and traditional embroidery techniques.

In 2010, I co-founded the Art House Trust, a not-for-profit organization that worked with artisans across India, especially textile and handicraft artists, promoting their craft and businesses. The trust also ran an art center in Bangalore which engaged with people in the local community through art projects and classes.

Under the mentorship of the gallery founder, I worked as a co-curator at Mahua Gallery (Bangalore) for a year as I learned about the Indian art market. It was there that I developed my own visual language and where I had my first solo show in 2015.

I’ve participated in numerous juried groups shows, have been featured in various Indian News Papers, presented work at the Bangalore Poetry and Literature festival (2016) and in 2019 did a featured show with Sidestreet Arts in Portland and a group show with Guardino Gallery.

I am represented by Waterstone Gallery in Portland, Oregon.

I am represented by Mahua Gallery and Art Collective (for giclee prints) in India.

I currently live and work in Portland, Oregon.
